Future Financial Bankshares Inc. to Acquire Palmer Bancshares Inc.

PLANO, Texas (July 20, 2026) – Future Financial Bankshares, Inc., a recently formed Texas corporation, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Palmer Bancshares, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary Commercial State Bank, based in Palmer, Texas. The transaction will serve as the cornerstone for Future Financial’s people-first mission and community banking focus in North Texas.

Future Financial was founded by Jeffrey A. Kesler, a seasoned banker with more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Future Financial intends to build upon the foundation established by Commercial State Bank, while expanding banking services for customers and using technology to strengthen customer relationships and improve the daily work life of employees.

“We were looking to acquire a strong bank we could build upon and grow for the future,” said Chief Executive Officer of Future Financial Jeff Kesler. “We found that foundation in Commercial State Bank, which has been faithfully led by Phillip Newsom and his family for the past 30 years.”

Kesler said both organizations believe strongly in the importance of community banking and human connection. “Our commitment to people, our shared values, and our passion for serving others ultimately brought us together,” said Kesler. “This acquisition supports our vision of building a purpose-driven banking organization rooted in stability, profitability, and growth. We intend to preserve the local decision making, relationships, and customer service culture that have defined Commercial State Bank for decades.”

“Our team is excited about this next chapter for our banking organization,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Commercial State Bank, Phillip Newsom. “The bank was founded over 95 years ago and it has passionately served its communities through numerous changes in the banking industry. This is an opportunity for the bank to remain independent and retain its character as a community institution but with added resources.”

Newsom added, “I am confident that Mr. Kesler and his team of experienced bankers and professionals share our values, philosophies, and commitment to outstanding customer service. I am also pleased that Chad Newsom will continue with Commercial State Bank following the acquisition. We believe that this partnership will promote long-term value to the communities we serve.”

Chad Newsom, who will remain President of Commercial State Bank said, “Rest assured that the same friendly faces that you know and trust will remain. A new holding company brings the resources and strategic vision needed for growth while preserving the values and culture that have made Commercial State Bank your community bank.  We will continue to provide the same personal community-based banking services we are known for.”
